I agree with you. We used to stick to a few brands, as they taste good and we like them as well, moreover I always thought those cheaper brands might not taste that good and the quality might be poor too. But same as you, the tuna brand that we have always been eating has increased their price gradually, and now it has become really expensive, hence we started to try out other brands. We found there are a few brands that taste quite good too, though I still think the brand we have been eating is still better, perhaps it's just because we got used to that taste, the rest are fine too. When considering the cost, we always go for the cheaper brands now. We also buy the brands whenever it's in sale, so it helps to save us more money.

I am not a brand loyal, therefore, I normally do not buy branded products. I prefer to buy from unknown brands or lesser known brands. I don't see a point in buying highly priced branded items. However, there are things that I always buy from the popular brands, for instance, TV, mobile phone and computer.

Patronizing local manufacturers who actually knows what they are doing producing good products for consumption is a good thing to do. It actually gives them the encouragement to improve their work because it's the only thing that can fetch them more customers on the long run. I do buy from local manufacturers once in a while because personally I'm also a local producer of detergents. It's going to be a painful thing if my product isn't patronized by people.

It's a fact that these branded products are so expensive beyond one's imagination when the simple cheap brands out there is equally good or even better compared to the high brand products. Take for instance the craziness with Gucci brand products now, I see nothing exceptional in their products but people are trying to die over it when better quality products are out there for the taking.

If it is things that are less expensive I would completely agree but if we are talking things like computers, I really need to make sure that they can hold their weight, which is not always the case. I have had some interesting experiences with this.
