We need items to use in our everyday lives.Foodstuffs are basic commodities. However,we find people having different approaches to do shopping. We have the lot who do their shopping in bulk mostly at the onset of a new month. This ensures that throughout the month their needs have been catered for.We have others who buy stuff on demand, that is if my packet of sugar gets depleted,I go buy another one. I am for the buy in bulk approach since I tend to think it saves on time and cash alot.
I believe that it's wiser to shop for foodstuff and basic supplies in bulk as opposed to purchasing them on demand on demand. When you buy in bulk you may be able to capitalize on volume discounts and probably lower transportation expenses. You would also be saving time because you of the lessened number of times you would have to visit the store.
What we buy in bulk are foodstuff like rice, flour, sugar, salt, condiments like soy sauce, vinegar, catsup and some other kitchen items that are not perishable. Most of those I mentioned have bulk discounts so it is a good idea to stock on them. What we buy on demand are the main ingredients of dishes like meat and vegetables. We always go for the freshness.
We're lucky here in Hawaii for we have weekly sales where you can buy both in bulk and on demand. If what you needed is running out and on sale better yet. We live in an apt., so we don't have much room and no huge freezer for monthly buying. Weekly sales from supermarkets to drug stores assures us we can get what we need all the time for special sale prices. Costco sells in bulk and has sales, so this is very nice. I don't shop Costco for it's also a membership store. We're a small family so Costco bulk is not so good for fresh foods is best for eating with bulk unless you got space and eaters, bulk won't work.
While I do agree that in general you'll tend to save some cash when buying in bulk, you just can't do bulk shopping for everything without sacrificing quality as in the case of perishables like meat, fruits, and vegetables. For most of the stuff with long expiration dates, I typically buy them in bulk on a monthly basis once my stock is depleted or has reached its refill level. Most people who live with their family will find it a waste of time and money to buy everything on demand instead of planning their purchases. I can't say outright that buying a packet is a waste of time and money. For instance, I don't buy sugar in bulk because I don't use it that often so I'll likely just buy the smallest quantity I can buy from a nearby store when I need it.
I would go with bulk purchase. However, by bulk purchase I don't mean I will buy phone, computer, or TV in bulk. When I am buying toiletries, groceries, clothes, I always buy in bulk. There are many benefits in buying in bulk. One main benefits is you save money, second you will be eligible for freebies and gifts (for instance buy two get one free kind of scheme).
I wouldn't buy in bulk. For one thing, the healthy food is usually stuff that can spoil like fresh meats and vegetables. In that case, a bi-weekly trip to the grocery store is the best move. However, though, a few healthy items like rice and bread can be bought in bulk. Also, pet food can generally be bought that way.
If you have the money to spare then bulk shopping is indeed better because you get to save time and money because you buy in large amounts. But if you live in a place where you can readily buy things individually or in smaller amounts then that is ok too since it would make you spend less, but you won't get to save as much in the long run.
