Recently, I've been looking around for some back up gadgets that I could use for work instead of using my personal smartphone and tablet for both personal and professional use. I was thinking of buying a Chinese brand tablet and smartphone and I've been looking up a lot of online reviews for all of them. Problem is, there are too many models, brands and frankly they are all starting to look the same to me. I was wondering if any of you have any experience with these lesser known Chinese brand gadgets like ZTE and Huawei, and which do you think would be the best choice considering they are all pretty much priced the same?
I can't say I've ever really tried a Chinese brand tablet before, but I have heard reviews. From what I've heard, people are really on opposite sides. Some people say they love them and others say there too cheaply made. If I was you, I would only buy one if they had a money back guarantee. With that you can't lose. Hope my advice helps you out!
I've never tried a Chinese tablet before but I have already tried one of China's TV phones. They're actually pretty bad. The OS is horrible. The design and built of the phones are really cheap. So I guess that it would be the same with Chinese tablets. On the bright side, Chinese electronic products are very affordable.
Well, most things are manufactured in China nowadays, even those products carrying an American label. If the price is right for you I can't see the harm in trying out a Chinese brand, at least it's being honest as to who really directs manufacturing these days. With all of the products that I've bought, most of them were from China and I couldn't find any gripes with them.
Huawei is actually a very good brand, from what I've heard. I've seen many people purchase tablets from that brand. I can vouch only for Ainol, though, which is the most popular brand in China I think. I got a very good tablet for a very reasonable price about a year ago, and it's still as good as new. Make sure to look for one with a good processor!
A friend of mine used to order random chinese gadgets for fun, like spy cameras to a wireless mouse that was also a USB stick. It was fun seeing what he could come up with. But if you are planning to buy something like a tablet or a smartphone that is chinese, i really hope you enjoy not having things that work correctly, because that is what you are going to have.
The thing about un established Chinese brands is that they seem to lack quality control. They believe in producing mass quantities of affordable products and forget about quality. Established brands like Huawei seem to have better quality control. And with regards to most things being made in China, I always remember what one of my instructors told me - God made the world in 7 days. Everything else is made in China.
I'm with lindbergh on this, brands that have a big impact worldwide, like Huawei, will certainly try to deliver well made products even if they're made in China, what isn't. I can tell by experience that Huawei smartphones are actually surprisingly good despite the origin! What people have to be careful about are brands that just produce for the sake of it, to do a lot and quick disregarding a lot of quality control. When it comes to something like a smartphone or tablet you will want a certain degree of quality for sure.
I often check withLog In anLog In when I am searching for an Mp3 or another item. I find the prices are great compared to many of the name brand electronics makers of the United States and the rest of the world. I enjoy the prices that these two sites have. I have found most of the products offered by these sites have an Android or Windows operating system. The phones are comparable in features to an iPhone. I have never had a bad experience with the products I purchased from these sites. If there is an issue, I can contact customer support and they will reship the product for me at no extra charge. I like both these sites.
I haven't used many Chinese products, but the Chinese brand Lenovo that makes laptops is pretty good. They don't really cut corners like I would imagine some Chinese companies would, and instead offer specs that are comparable to other laptops but for a cheaper cost. Just be careful when buying off brand and make sure that they have a good return policy.
Thanks for the recommendation and advice! I'll check out that brand now I haven't even heard of it prior to your post. I didn't realize Lenovo was a Chinese brand, but yeah if it were even cheaper than it was I would definitely go for that brand but I'm mostly just looking for an almost "disposable" gadget but something that will be durable and will not fail me. Anyway thank you for your advice. Also thanking everyone in this thread for sharing your thoughts, I'd still appreciate some input from other members here before I buy one next month.
I have never bought a Chinese brand product but my friend has in the past. She was very unhappy with it because the product was completely damaged and the cell pone charging wire did not even work. After that she decided that its a risk that she isn't willing to take because the shipping and sending back all the bad items is just not worth all the wait.
If you are considering buying a tablet any time soon, I suggest you look into the Ainol brand. They're Chinese, superb quality and a 10th of the price of an iPad. My cousin recently got one and she's been loving it! I tried it myself and it behaves extremely well, considering it costs 100$. As for other gadgets and electronics I am not that acquainted with Chinese manufacturing.

Well, Huawei is a good and established brand, and the only product that I have that was made by them is my USB modem, and it works quite fine. I think that as long as the brand is established and famous in China then you would have no problem with its quality. Just avoid those cheap and no brand name China items and you're good to go. Ainol is a good Chinese brand too.
I do think Lenovo is a standard Chinese brand. I see many of my students use the Lenovo laptops and they seem to be doing fine. Huawei phones are good, however I am not so sure of their Tablets. I have noticed that the other Chinese brands develops problems and their is no customer service or help. I wish I knew some one suing a Chinese tab though.. all my friends and family use Samsung.
I haven't that I'm aware of. It's not really saving me any money if I have to pay a small fortune to have it shipped to me here in the US - especially if it's an inferior product compared to what I can get here. Not to mention, there's no practical way for me to use the warranty, if needed.
