Do you dye your hair yourself? Or go to the salon?

Unless I really have the money to splurge on myself -- or if someone gives me a gift card as a gift I very rarely go to a salon. I call one of my cosmetology friends to come help me go to Sally's and pick out what I need to die my hair and will either do it myself or have them help me. I have found that purchasing the materials and doing it at home is much cheaper.. I don't usually do anything super fancy to my hair anyhow so I don't feel like I am depriving myself much. I mean yes, it's nice to get pampered on occasion but there are so many other ways that I can spend that $60-$100 in my family that often I feel guilty spending it on something so frivolous.

I buy most of my supplies at Sally Beauty Supply as well. It really is great to be able to buy the items I need there, and they run a lot of good deals quite often. I would rather spend twenty or thirty dollars on supplies at Sally, and be able to do my hair a few times than going to a salon and spend $70+ for one visit.

I feel guilty about spending large amounts of money as well. I always feel like there is something else I could be putting my money towards. That is one of the reasons why I do my hair myself.

I feel the same way, especially because my family is on one income. I feel guilty knowing that any time I splurge I am taking money that could be spent on my child or bills. But in regards to Sally, fortunately a lot of times I can use the products more than once AND the components you buy there are much gentler on your hair than box sets you'd buy at Walmart or a drug store. So if you are going to spend the money -- it's a win win in that dept.
