I'm a voracious reader and I anticipate new releases of favorite authors with deep hunger. I will set my alarm for 3am, when a preorder book will hit my kindle and get up to start it right then. And pretty much nothing else happens on a release day, especially if multiple books are released. (Tomorrow in my list is "Visions of Silver" by Anne Bishop, "Dead Heat" by Patricia Briggs, and "Dark Debt" by Chloe Neil). I'm a little cray about it.

I didn't used to preorder when I was reading paper based books because I could go to the book store earlier than the UPS guy would arrive with the book. Then for a while on Amazon, I was preordering books and found that the price dropped on release day but if you preordered, you paid the original price so I stopped preordering. Now they have the preorder guarentee (if the price drops, you pay the lowest) so I'm back to the pre-order plan. I just wish they would charge my card when I order it instead of waiting until release day. Keeping track is a pain.

Do you preorder things on amazon? If so, how do you keep your account straight?

I never preordered a book before. I never even thought about it, actually. I just buy it when it comes out or whenver I see it on the shelf in a bookstore..

I have never preordered a book either. Yes, I do love books but I just wait for it until it's released and I find no reason for urgency to the extent of have it preordered. In fact, after the book has been released, I wait for more time before buying it hoping that the price would go down a bit.

No. I don't preorder books. Mostly what I do, I would just go to the local bookstore and browse through different shelves. I still prefer doing the old-fashioned way of acquiring books.

I haven't pre-ordered any books online. I used to pre-order books that I would use in class from the regular book suppliers. The ordering process usually is done through the phone. And then I would fill in a form that includes all the details, send out the form through a fax or an email, then wait for the product to arrive. I would later on be able to pick up my orders from the nearest branch, or they would send the goods to me if the option was available. I don't know how the process works for online ordering.

I'm not solvent enough to pursue this habit. Moreover, I'm currently swamped with several gigs not to mention a full-time job that requires my physical presence for nine hours, five times a week. Perhaps in the near future, when my means permit me to, I'd have not only the time but also the resources to pre-order just about any book I hope to read.

I haven't pre-ordered a book yet, I just prefer to search for a specific title and just go looking for the store that sells it. The last time I bought a book was last 2013 when the book that I'm looking for is not available locally, so I had to order it online. I mostly prefer to just download e-books instead.
