Where I live, public transportation can get me wherever I need to go within the greater metropolitan area (I live in Vancouver). I know a little bit about how to drive, though I would need more practice to be comfortable. However, in a city as expensive as Vancouver, I often find friends and family in financial peril because of car maintenance. I can't seem to convince myself that getting where I need to go quickly isn't worth the trouble. Also, I have somewhat of an irrational fear of being in small cars because of the risk factor associated with accidents. What about you? Do you live in an area where public transit is strong enough to get you where you need to go? Or do you live in an area where driving is the only logical option?
