I recently purchased my car insurance from The AA. As an added bonus, they were offering one years free membership to the AA breakdown service. Since I would have needed to buy breakdown cover from somewhere anyway, I signed up. I'm pretty pleased at saving myself some money, and now I don't have to worry about being stranded at the side of the road, if my car were to break down. The only thing you have to remember is that at the end of the 12 months, it automatically subscribes you for another years worth of cover. So if you don't want them taking any money out of your bank account, you have to cancel the policy before the end of the free membership.
I suppose for older drivers (where the difference between insurers is minimal) this would be quite a saving. However for me I would still be better off getting insurance with admiral as the price difference does not make up for the free breakdown coverage.
