I think that more people would want to and think about writing a book if it was easier to break into the literary world. I mean, in a sense it is easier than ever these days, since you can self-publish. But to get recognition so that people will buy your books and help you build up a name is extremely difficult, unless you already have an unofficial following to begin with.
