While some have birds as pets in their home, others enjoy 'birding' or bird watching. Recently, we rented a film called, 'The Big Year' (2011); it stars Steve Martin, Jack Black, and Owen Wilson. The film is not the slapstick type movie you would expect from the three comedians. Rather it is an interesting take on two men (Martin and Black) who begin a quest to defeat the record holder for most birds seen in one year (Wilson). The variety of birds shown is really inspiring. Has anyone heard of anyone who has done a 'Big Year'? I was wondering if it was a real thing. My family and I are thinking of starting a blog page for next year where we can post all the bird species we have seen. Since many of us live in different states and countries, it might be a cool way to see how many birds we could see collectively. What do you think? Good idea or bad?
