Has anyone noticed that the Apple store never has discounts or deals of any kind. There are none online or in the store itself. Has anyone come across any type of deal from Apple, ever?
Nope. Probably to go in line with the fake "we're the highest quality product you can buy of anything ever" philosophy they seem to have going...
No, because they simply don't need them. Apple does not need the usual advertising schemes to market their products. Their sales record has proven that they are fine all by themselves. The type of marketing they use is word of mouth and "product placement". It is a different type of product placement however, meaning (they have placed their products in the hands of almost every individual who can afford an iOS in North America). Its hard to argue with results.
Apple often has the student deal around the time before the new year of school starts. Not sure if it is still going on this year, but previous years you would get a free 8gb ipod touch if you bought a Macbook Pro or something along those lines. I believe you have to have a student ID and be enrolled in a 4 year college/university/grad in order to claim it. Don't know the details since I myself never went for it. On why they don't have sales, Meow and FlipKup are both right. And to be honest, Macs aren't really targeted at people who would have to buy them during a sale.
Apple knows that it has a large base of users and fans who will buy its products no matter what happens. It is very difficult to get that kind of devotion from users especially in tech industry and that's what made Steve Jobs such a revered guy. Apple products are not for masses and they have never marketed them as such. That's the reason I don't expect them to offer discounts on their products unlike other companies.
Apple never has and will probably never have any sales for their products due to the die-hard fanbase they've made over the years who'll unconditionally buy anything they spew out. They've also influenced the average person to believe that their products are the most high-quality things in existence simply because they've made it harder for the average person to break them. Anyone remotely technologically savvy would know that Macs are basically 500-600 for parts and 1000+ for brand name. Really, you see that devotion all the time whenever a new product comes out of them. Remember the iPad 1? People were skeptical about it, yet there were huge lines on the first day so people could get their hands on one.
They have tax free weekends. I don't know how far it stretches. You can check it out at this link. I just came across it and have no idea about it. Log In
I haven't seen any in the Apple store because they make their customers pay full price for everything. That's why I don't like Apple products they should try to give the consumer a break every once and a while. The iPad and iPhone are always expensive and they don't even do half of what an Android can do. You would think they would have deals in the Apple store or on their products, but surprisingly they don't.
I know a few car companies who sell their cars at knock down prices because they aren't very well known. Apple don't have this problem and probably wouldn't even need to advertise, ever, to still get a constant stream of customers through the door.
Apple would never offer deals because Apple products user will purchase Apple products regardless of the cost. They have a very loyal fan-base. I was interested in purchasing the new Apple Ipad, but I will only do so if I can get it at a discounted price.
Having sale prices would probably go against the Apple philosophy. I work for a University, so I do get a small discount on Apple products.
Apple believes that their products are above average and thus do not have to offer incentives and discounts. But they are very wrong!
They want to maintain their luxury brand status. They never lowered the prices on their systems even when the economy tanked a few years ago. I don't really see the fascination with them, you could easily take the same money and buy a very high end Windows machine. I was forced to use them in college for some of my classes, and they had just as many tech issues as Windows machines. The lab monitors were continuously having to re-install systems.
I don't think it's about maintaining their status of "high quality, luxury brand" items, I just think they simply don't need to have any discounts, because their products are so popular, they basically sell themselves. Also, to be honest, they are pretty much an IT equivalent of iron fist dictatorship.
The only deal I've ever seen with Apple is there student and educator deals. The discount is not very good (about 100$ off) plus a free IPod of some kind. And the education discount is always available. But the free iPod is only available in the months before school starts and a bit into September. I still buy Macs and will keep buying them. They are expensive. But they last quite a long time. I'm going on 5 years with my laptop. My free iPod has since died! But it was free!
Of course not, if you can get the cattle to walk themselves into the slaughterhouse why bother trying to pick them up? People love throwing their money at what they think is cool or superior, therefore Apple only has to stand there holding a sack open to catch the ducets.
