Today's rhythm is many times crazy and we might be always busy, especially when we have kids. We might feel exhausted and wonder if something is wrong and in fact it is because many times we don't get enough rest. Have you been there? What's your idea, is something wrong or are we simply not getting enough rest?

Many people nowadays are so workaholic or travelaholic. I think to truly rest you need to be at home and be relaxing. When you work, you are exposed to stress and problems. Travelling is a great way to relax but you do not really relax when you travel as you have to deal with your flight, hotel, etc.

Staying at home is the best way to relax and just rest. After all, there is no place like home!

I think many people hardly have any time to rest because some have two jobs.

Normally failure to rest and having your mind occupied with not-so-pleasant thoughts [about debts, how hard life is, etc, etc] will stress this person. Should this go on for a long time this person in order to cope with the stress would probably start using drugs a mistake which in the long run would cancel out all gains made.

It's better to be learn frugality, be a smart shopper, start living on less and you'll have more time to rest.

I suffer from burn-out every so often. It might last a few days, or sometimes even months, in which I feel like I just have to let my body do what it needs to do, even if it means sleeping some extra hours during the day. For me it's not always about being overworked, but about the energy that I have to come up with for my daily tasks and for others. There are those who definitely zap your energy. I try to avoid them wherever and whenever I can, which is easier said than done.

Most people rush through life with a very high stress level. They are overbooked nearly every single day of the year so even when they are "resting", the body can't fully enter a state of test, and you never really catch up. I personally just refuse to live like that. I say no to a lot of things in order to ensure that I do not have to rush. Hurry is one thing I do not want in my life.

Even on holidays I feel tired! I just took a week off with the wife and kids and the rhythm is even superior to the work days! I guess that when we have small kids we are always busy and when they grow up we are old, it's the cycle of life.

There is something very wrong, no matter how you look at it. We're evolving at a pace much too quick for our own physical and mental needs. It's too much. Is it any wonder depression is as big as it is today.. it's a natural human response to what we're surrounded by and what's expected of us when as a species, I just don't think we're ready for it. We're forced onto this path which goes against what we are.. so whether you get enough rest or not (which is so so important, don't get me wrong), it's a mental drain.

I'm the type of person that doesn't know the meaning of the word. I'm not saying I don't sleep. I do sleep (too long if you ask me) I think my mind is just not built to like it because apparently from the day I was born I would fight sleep more than the average baby. For me the best relaxation is watching my favorite TV show but I don't like to do that too long. I'm on the internet a lot so I'm physically in one place but my mind is constantly racing. If I don't have enough to engage in I get really bored. I know it's important to sleep but aside from that it's just not in me to blank out my mind. It has to be engaged 24/7. Is it an autistic thing? Idk but even in the shower I get really bored so I try to take the fastest shower possible and think that a mere 5 minutes is too long.

I love to sleep. I'm the type that would get irritated if I would be awakened by a phone call or by a dog barking, etc. I always make it a point to get enough sleep, otherwise my body would bug me about it, because if I get less than 7 or 8 hours, my body will "demand" the missing hours by making me feel drowsy until I sleep off the remaining hours.

The world is upside down, it's impossible to go around that. I just saw today this picture representing a billion obese and a billion people starving, so where are our priorities? The same with rest...

The priority is money,.. it's lifting up the wealthy and destroying our world and people. Money is everything.. it kills.

I'm definitely in that space! I just never seem to come up for air LOL I have a regular full time job where I work shifts, some a lot more difficult than others. I always make sure I spend time on my online sites on a daily basis. I also have to feed my husband, who sadly can't cook. Luckily whenever he feels I need a break, he offers to chop up vegetables and helps a lot in the kitchen, bless his heart :) Then there's some socialising here and there that I couldn't wriggle out of even if I tried. I dread to think how much busier it's likely to get with kids in the future!

I think most people don't get enough sleep so it leaves them tired for the rest of the day. People just don't relax and take it easy like they should. Life is so busy and there is always so much that needs to be done. There are only so many hours in a day. People are working a job and in some case two or three just to make ends meet. Everything costs so much. They are always stressed about money and paying bills and having enough hours in the day to do the all things they need to. Live mores along at a much faster pace it seems. Sometimes it is nice to just sit back relax and enjoy the little things live has to often. It really does the mind and body good.

Sadly, you're right Sue. We all lead very pressured lives, often with more than one job just to keep our heads above water. You don't do that, you sink. Life has also become way too expensive. Just to get the bare necessities from a supermarket is enough to break the bank these days :(

There's no best thing as sleeping for a good 8 to 10 hours on a weekend with your AC turned in your bedroom. Rest has become a luxury in the modern days and one must take time out to fully relax and give the body a much-needed breather to fully recoup from mental and physical trauma. A tastefully decorated bedroom, with a noise-free and cool environment, gives you a soul-soothing rest.

So that's where we should put a break to it, we should not be controlled by money, but by common sense and compassion. These days money rules everything and that is really harming our world. Saving fine, but accumulating billions?

I think now a days people have such a busy life that they really don't take time to rest. They are working and running errands and taking the kids to all their sports and clubs they belong to. Then when they get home they got homework and the housework to do. The list goes on and on. We live in a busy world these days it seems.

I'm glad to say that this weekend I made sure my diary was cleared and that I got a lot of rest. It helped that Monday and today are public holidays here, so I got more than my fair share of rest. I actually feel a little guilty LOL But I feel more refreshed and energised than I have for a very long time :)

Actually I was just talking to my dad yesterday and he saw how tired I was, he smiled and said, soon enough you'll realize that the weekends are to rest. It got me thinking, but I am still too young to rest! :)

Goodness, I have not been getting enough sleep or rest! I used to have many free weekends before and enough time during the week after work to rest. Now I never have full free weekends and during the week I have so much to do that I barely can watch the couple TV shows I enjoy!
I think we should all sometimes step back and get some rest... I know I need it.
