Here in Wisconsin, the leaves are turning color and that means time for Oktoberfest with cold beer and grilled brats. The bratwurst was popularized in the 1920s in Sheboygan County, Wisconsin and my favorite brand is Old Wisconsin Bratwurst which is still made in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. It is worth it to seek out this brand. It is spiced perfectly for just enough bite to it and blows away the "national" brands like Johnsonville. If you happen to run across a Usinger's or Leahy's, you can't go wrong there either for a great Wisconsin-made brat, but do yourself a favor and make the extra effort to track down an Old Wisconsin bratwurst. Wash it down with a beer from a Wisconsin micro-brewery and have yourself a great Oktoberfest. What are the best brats in your region of the country?
