We have plenty of Lego and duplo in our house and it gets used all the time. With that in mind I didn't see the need to get any playmobil until last year when another child let my kid have a go with theirs. It was an immediate hit. I had thought that small, cute figures were covered with the duplo/lego characters, but if you've a child like mine who would rather spend many hours telling elaborate stories than building a death star then playmobile is actually perfect. It's also often cheaper than equivalent sized lego sets, and there are often offers on at the mainstream websites and stores. I still don't get why the playmobil advent Calendars are so expensive all year round though!
