I have been wanting to get a PS4 console for a while now. But I heard that when it was originally it was release it lacked MP3 compatibility. That was a huge downer for me but I since preferred it over the XBox One. I heard lately Sony was considering updating the PS4 so it can play MP3s. Anyone know when this is most likely to happen?

Well that's new, I've never really heard of anybody complain about this until now. I'm guessing they did that because, well it's a gaming console not a music player but then again if you think about it, MP3's are a standard now so it's pure BS why they wouldn't include it. I'm guessing the next update would have it.

The Playstation 4 DOES play MP3 files and is compatible with that format as of right now. However, you have to play it from a USB storage device and can't transfer those files onto the PS4's hard drive. That's just how they've done things, and they're working on getting that feature available in a future update. It's not that big of a deal. You can stream music to the console or play it on a computer. Playstation 4 = gaming console.
