SACAT: Semi Attended Customer Activated Terminal or more commonly known as 'self checkout'. In places like the grocery store there are usually around ten of these terminals and one person attending them. That seems like a recipe for disaster to me. I understand it helps keep the other lines less crowded and when you have one item to buy it can be quite Handy but there are issues. I have not worked in a place that has had these but I can imagine theft is an issue. Not to mention having one person checking IDs or helping someone figure the process out or computer issues. So, the question remains: Are self checkouts in stores a good idea or a bad idea?
