Guys I am from India and I can help if anybody has questions about Tourism in India. I will start by posting one Destination every week or so, so that you can check out if it interesting. Munnar is a hill station located in the southwestern Indian state of Kerala at around 1,600 metres (5,200 ft) above sea level, in the Western Ghats range of mountains. This is the place where there is a confluence of the Madhurapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundaly rivers. The nearest railway station is Ernakulam approximately 140 kilometres (87 mi) by road. The nearest airport is Cochin International Airport, which is 105 kilometres (65 mi) away. The temperature ranges between 5 °C (41 °F) and 25 °C (77 °F) in winter and 15 °C (59 °F) and 25 °C (77 °F) in summer. Munnar is famed for its Beautiful locales, Verdant greenery and serene water bodies. I am sorry if this looks like a tourist brochure, but the area does look picture book type. Mattupetty is 13 km from Munnar and is famous for its highly specialised dairy farm, the Indo-swiss live stock project. The Mattupetty lake and dam , just a short distance from the farm, is a very beautiful picnic spot. Pothamedu is 6 km from Munnar and offers an excellent view of the tea, coffee and cardamom plantations in Munnar. The rolling hills, the lush mountain and the breathtaking scenery here is ideal for trekking and long mountain walks. Devikulam is the perfect hill station and is about 7 km from Munnar. Its exotic flora and fauna and the mineral water lake (Sita Devi) lake are a must sea. Pallivasal is 8 km from Munnar and the first Hydro Electric project in Kerala. Attukal is 9 km from Munnar and is another beautiful hill station Nyayamakad is 10 km from Munnar - it has breathtaking 1600 mts water falls. There are many more and almost all of them have trekking facilities. But be prepared for a shock if you try to eat the local food. Best eat what is provided in the place that you stay as they use coconut oil for preparation of everything. If anybody is interested, I can share more information and photos.
