AliExpress is a sister site of ecommerce giant Alibaba. These two are Chinese ecommerce sites based in China When I compared these two online stores, the major difference I discovered was, Aliexpress specialises on single purchase and Alibaba specializes in bulk purchase. When I compared Aliexpress with eBay, I found that products on Aliexpress cost higher than the products available on ebay (for China based products).

I think you need to check the reputation of the sellers first. Many sellers from those Chinese shops are scammers. Read the comments about the reputation of the seller so you won't fall victim to the scammers. If you see positive comments, make sure they are natural and not copy pasted.

Aliexpress is extremely popular where I live (Eastern Europe). People are crazy about it and say one can get some really good deals at this web site.

However I am with mixed feelings about it. I once purchased a T-shirt from the Aliexpress. It was fairly priced in my opinion, but when it arrived, I couldn't fit in it - it was too small. Apparently the Chinese clothing size system is different than the one in Europe. So I ended up giving the T-shirt to my little brother. Be aware of the clothing size issue, if you decide to buy from there. Other than that I think their products are OK.

I agree with your view regarding Chinese sellers. I have bought many products from Chinese sellers on ebay and until now I have not been cheated by Chinese sellers. However, I have heard bad reputation of Chinese sellers. While buying from Chinese sellers, you need to check the ratio between the positive reviews and negative reviews.

Like most of these websites, you just have to be careful and read everything you can. Remember that many times you get what you pay for. I've never tried Aliexpress, but my sister has and she's received everything. I think it's worth it for many things, she's purchased plenty of shirts and things for the home. You just have to now that some things may not be the best quality. For clothes, you need to measure yourself before buying, things like that.

Yes it is all about the reviews. A seller with good reputation and customer reviews will give you a guaranteed positive experience. So avoid sellers with bad reputation. New sellers are also a red flag since they don't have authentic reviews yet.

I didn't know the products selling in aliexpress can be more expensive than eBay, but I usually buy from another sister company, Taobao, where the products are sold much cheaper as compared to aliexpress. I am not sure why it is so, it's just that Taobao is written in Chinese, but they can ship to other countries as well.

Well, that migh not be true for all products. However, when I compared the products that I was trying to buy from Chinese sellers on on ebay were priced less than the products on Aliexpress. But then if you are looking for a Chinese supplier, I think Alixpress is a better choice.

Guys, I just ordered two T-shirts from Aliexpress.com. This times I took measures of myself because I don't want the old scenario happening again.

Anyways, I want to share with you that I caught them in a lie. When I visited their web site I saw that they were giving every new customer a free 4-dollar discount coupon. I made a new profile, so that I could get the coupon. It was specifically stated that you could use the discount on ANY product on Aliexpress. So, I ordered two T-shirts, but it turned out they didn't allow me to use the coupon at checkout, so I had to pay the regular price. I'm not mad at them, as the products were really cheap, to be honest, I just think it's really tacky to lie to your customers about things like that.

Yes, I think the products at AliExpress is still quite expensive. I think if one can read Chinese or able to translate the language to English or other languages, we can actually find cheaper products at TaoBao, another sister company by Alibaba. I do not know why they create so many shopping platforms, perhaps TaoBao is mainly for Chinese, and AliExpress is targeting International, hence the products can be more expensive.

I've purchased in Aliexpress and I was very well impressed. The products had quality, the price was excellent, I couldn't ask for more. Free shipping took over 1 month, but even so it was great. I did research the reviews on that particular seller, and they were positive.

I think we need to study the sellers before we make any purchase, even in AliExpress. My husband and I have purchased some stuffs from different sellers, some are in really good quality, but some are quite disappointing. Though we have been checking before we purchase, the products we got are not we expected. There were some defects too. We spent time talking to the seller on the defected products, at last he said he will give us discounts for future order. It's actually not what we wanted, as we don't think we would like to make any orders from the seller anymore, but we didn't want to go further than that.

For those sellers that we have got good products, I guess we can continue purchasing stuff from them.

I haven't use Aliexpress it's glad to hear that they allow retail buying unlike Alibaba that deals on bulk kind of. Little surprise that the price at retail will be more than at bulk per item. It takes mor time and cost more on the long run to ship in retails compared to bulk especially if the merchant plays a role in the shipment.

Yeah, that's pretty much it. Researching the seller, seeing the comments from people who have purchased from them, will say more or less how our experience will be. If there are no reviews, most likely I'll just skip on that seller.

Though I am yet to use either of the site extensively. Talking about bulk or single purchase I thing it depends a lot on the item and it's worth. I am sure Alibaba would sell a single item if the price is high enough to qualify it for free shipping if they are going to have to ship to the customer.
