Christmas is coming and as every year I have the same problem. My family and friends prefer to receive novels than electronics and I have no idea what to buy them this year. Have any title caught your eye?Any genre counts, though the book must be worth reading (without the feeling that you wasted your time and money on something mediocre). What books do you recommend?
Hmm, well, if they're fans of fantasy then I'd suggest getting the Game of Thrones. It's a series of books, really easy to get into, gripping, lots of plot twists. It even got made into a TV series (which was really well done - Normally they ruin these type of things). I've only read the first 3 but I'm really enjoying them, and I can't wait for the next couple to get delivered to me. They're really popular books at the moment, so you shouldn't have any problem buying them online, in stores or any where else you might want to look.
Non-fiction (for geeks) :The Joy of x: A Guided Tour of Math, from One to Infinity Fiction: Oh, there are so many.... but if I had to recommend only one, it'd be Defending Jacob by William Landay Juvenile Fiction: The Percy Jackson series and the Erek Rex books. My kid is addicted to both. Honorable Mention to the 39 Clues and Infinity Ring series'.
Don't get me started. Here is a list of some books in two genres that I highly recommend: Fiction "Crime and Punishment" "The House of the Dead" "Death in Venice" "Doctor Faustus" "Death of a Salesman" Non-Fiction "Physics of the Impossible" "Camp Z" "Free to Choose" "The Revolution: A Manifesto" "Hitler's Scientists"
One book I found very Interesting is The Lucifer Principle. Book explains evil in modern society. Good read, I reccomend it to anyone who's interested in History, Sociology, or Global Affairs.
"The Hundred Great Persons"written by Michael H. Hart. I love reading about history...good one in this regard...great book!!!!
I think everyone would love to read and reread To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee. For a more inspirational story, I would suggest Life of Pi by Yann Martel.
