The Wii U is having such abysmal sales. The arrival of the PS4 and the Xbox One further complicated the situation of Nintendo. The once mighty Wii was replaced by a console that is now producing losses for the entity. Is there still a way for the entity to turn the tide around? What game you think would save the Wii U?
I don't think any game can save the Wii U at this point. I would like to see Nintendo just start over and build a powerful console that rivals the PS4 and Xbox One, maybe even more powerful than those two. This might be a problem though because Nintendo has gravitated to the cheaper family market. Man would it be cool to have Nintendo exclusives on a device as powerful as PS4 and Xbox.
Maybe the new Smash Bros game? I don't know about Nintendo's situation though and what would be required to save it. Their games don't seem to benefit that from running on more powerful hardware too. A lot of kids now only seem to care about Call of Duty, GTA or other games on PS4 and Xbone.
There is nothing that Nintendo can do. With PlayStation now offering the "PlayStation Move" and, Xbox now offering the "Kinect" The main selling point of the Wii series is gone. The PlayStation, and Xbox platforms offer more games and better content to their users. Not to mention that their systems are much more powerful.
I honestly don't think games alone can save the Wii U, its practically dead by now, people don't even consider it as a next-gen console let alone consider its existence. The only thing that can save the Wii U is either Nintendo admitting defeat and scraping the console all together, or, Nintendo relaunching the Wii U with updated hardware and a better third party support, or, Nintendo coming up with a new console that will actually match the gaming prowess of the PS4 and Xbox One and giving it a decent enough name. If Nintendo refused to update their hardware to actual next gen, then they will be in the waters for a long time.
Maybe if they started letting developers make the most popular games like Call Of Duty, and NBA2k for their platform. If not The Wii U will continue to suck.
The way to keep Nintendo floating along is to create truly innovative titles that are incredibly interactive and that don't currently exist. Party games for casual fun are part of the bread and butter of the franchise now. Ramp that up and go with it.
