I personally use Colgate Total. It has a very nice whitening formula in it that really shows after about 2 weeks. I've never been a fan of Crest or the other brands, but I should probably try them.
I just use baking soda, as it's virtually the same as tooth-powder without the flavour. It whitens just as well as tooth-powder as well, because both are abrasives. Before that I used to use Colgate for a brief period, then store brand. I really could never tell the difference between toothpastes so used to just end up going for the cheapest.
I like the Crest 3D Glamorous White. It whitens my teeth, but it doesn't make them too sensitive like other toothpastes have. I rarely pay full price though. You can usually find an online or in store coupon for Walgreens.
After trying Blend-a-med, Aquafresh and another brand, which was cheaper and locally produced, I would say Colgate is the winner. I like the Propolis version, feels so smooth with my gums. The cool minty taste is also great I guess people use Colgate, because it`s Colgate and their parents used it too, otherwise other brands manage to get your teeth whiter, but they aren`t Colgate
I just started using this brand Jason. It's a more natural toothpaste, without any fluoride or SLS in it. The SLS in my old toothpaste had been causing me constant canker sores. This stuff is great. The color's a little weird, but it tastes the same as other toothpastes. It's pricey, but worth it.
I like both Crest and Colgate toothpaste, I can't really pick a favorite because they both do an excellent job. When it comes to mouthwash, I prefer Crest Pro-Health. It cleans great and doesn't have a nasty taste like some others do.
I really like Pepsodent for its wintergreen flavor. I'm not sure whether it's better than others as far as actually protecting the teeth from bacteria is concerned, though.
