Mine is Cup of Noodles. You can get six for under $3.00 and eat all week. The only problem is the salt content. Other than that this snack is alright. It definitely keeps me away from the vending machine.
Cup Noodles are absolutely horrible for you! They're really cheap sure, but not sure it's exactly worth it. They don't fill you up, and as you said, they're packed full of salt and other unhealthy food products. One of my favorite money saving foods are the protein peanut bars and the nature valley bars. You get quite a few of them in the package and they do a good job of curbing your appetite for a bit at least. And they actually provide some nutritional value, unlike cup noodles.
I do occasionally take cup noodles but most of the time I will take fruits with me especially banana. It keeps me from being hungry for long time. I love cup noodles but I'm trying to stay away from it as much as possible as it is just impossible to hate the taste
My local Farmer's Market sells bulk items. I can get a variety of snack food for great prices. My favorite is dark chocolate almond clusters. I also like pretzels filled peanut butter and dried banana slices. Delicious.
In the past I've saved money on work snacks by baking my own muffins, cookies and rolls. You can make a muffin as healthy as you want it to be depending on what you add to it. My basic, rudimentary baking skills have saved me a lot of money over the years.
Mine are plain crackers and sometimes banana chips. I also eat cup noodles from time to time just to have variety. But overall I try to stay away from eating while working as snacking takes away my focus and I don't want to delay my work schedule. So I only eat snacks when I'm really hungry.
Sandwiches made with homemade bread, cheese sliced thin, either lettuce, spinach, cabbage or kale, and some sort of meat made without fillers and nitrates/nitrites. Healthy and filling, full of energy and made just the way you like it. Avocado is optional.
My favorite cheap snacks are canned beans and dollar sandwiches, both of which can be enjoyed even when not heated, which is why I love them for this purpose because there isn't always an oven or microwave available. I usually just buy multiple sandwiches at a time and keep them refrigerated then I take them out as I please, and when it comes to beans, I could just open up the can or pack and enjoy it straight out of the container it came in, and the best part is that one serving of each with water is enough to get me through so it's especially helpful to me when I'm busy and can't be bothered to prepare an elaborate meal.
Well, I work at home and due to the nature of our work, there's always tons of food around if you want it. So it's not like we have the option to save money by bringing some food from home...but I guess every now and then I'll grab a pot noodle? I know it's horrible, but I find it delicious. I want one now actually...might have to go grab one.
I like baby carrots, fruits, nuts, and cheeses. If I bring my own, they definitely help keep me away from the restaurants and vending machines. It also helps if I put all my change in a piggy bank and don't carry it around with me! Although more and more vending machines nowadays take plastic -- curses!
