I usually upgrade my PC when I see signs of it slowing down. I usually upgrade it every two or three years depending on what kind of PC I have. Since I built a desktop this year, I think this will last a bit longer than my laptops so I have a few more years on this.

When do you usually upgrade your PC?

Same here. I start upgrading my PC when I start to experience slowdown or when it gets badly infected by a virus. I also upgrade when a new operating system comes out. For instance, I upgraded my PC when Windows 7 came out. Also, I upgrade in order to be able to play the current games that come out every now and then.

I replace my PC/laptop when it dies on me. I am experienced enough to keep my PC/laptop running smoothly by cleaning it up once a month. If you take care of it then it can last a a few years - until you do something stupid like drop it down the stairs or throw it across the room in you sleep.

Wow, that's interesting, that you build your own laptop! I find that when my laptop starts to slow down it usually means it has viruses on it and I work on removing the viruses usually with a system restore because I can't seem to get them off easily any other way. Once I do the system restore it's like having a new computer but it's getting kind of old doing that every few months, which I have had to do lately strangely enough. And that is with having anti-virus programmed on the computer! I think I may have a few more years with this computer before I will replace it completely.

I usually will trash my laptops after a few years. Lets just be honest here laptops start going slow and no matter what you do to them they will continue to go slow. It really depends though, some can last a long time. It's kind of like a phone, whenever something cool comes out and my computer has been going slow... I will tell it everyday that if it doesn't start running fast that I will replace it. LOL

I upgrade my pc when it conks out on me and that particular component needs to be replaced. But when it comes to upgrading the OS, then I don't really feel the need to upgrade as soon as a new one comes out.
